Transfer Talk: Spurs’ Russian striker and Chelsea's Ukranian could be heading east. Villa set for double defensive swoop

Unsettled Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko could be on his way out of White Hart Lane after Spartak Moscow launched a £10m bid to re-sign their former player. The offer is £3.8m less than Spurs paid for the Russian striker last year, but Pavlyuchenko has admitted he wants to leave after falling behind Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch in the pecking order - all three of who arrived after Pavlyuchenko...

Andrei Shevchenko's troubled tenure at Chelsea could come to an end before the transfer window closes on Tuesday. The former AC Milan player has fallen out with Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti who left out of the squad for Sunday's win at Fulham and has axed him from Chelsea's 25-man Champions League squad. The Ukrainian is now hoping for a possible return to first club Dynamo Kiev or Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg according to the Daily Mirror.

Shevchenko, who turns 33 at the weekend spent last year on loan at Ancelotti's AC Milan, but his less than iumpressive performances there mean that he is no longer wanted by Italian clubs. Chelsea are willing to let him go for free but will not make up any shortfall in his £120,000 per week wages, forcing Roman Abramovich's former favourite to take a pay cut if he really wants to leave...

Chelsea are trying to push through a £4m deal for Feyenoord youngster Jonathan de Guzman. The 21-year-old, who scored twice for Feyenoord this week, was first watched by the Blues two years ago. The Dutch 21-year-old can play wide or through the middle and only has one year left on his contract, which may prompt the Londoners to move, even though Carlo Ancelotti had ruled out any more signings this summer...

Martin O'Neill is set to prop up his Aston Villa defence with a double signing, according to the Sun. Villa have agreed a £6m fee for Manchester City defender Richard Dunne and O'Neill is also in talks with Blackburn about £8m sleft-back Stephen Warnock. Dunne is surplus to requirements at Eastlands following the arrival of Joleon Lescott and could even take the captain's armband. At present O'Neill has no cover at left back or in the centre of defence...

At Notts County, Sven Goran Eriksson has failed in his audacious bid to persuade Pavel Nedved out of retirement and into League 2. Instead Magpies fans have had to settle for the arrival of Derby left back Jordan Stewart in a £250,000 deal. ·
