Manchester City are expected to unveil today their prize capture of the summer to date, reports the Daily Telegraph, as Carlos Tevez, now a free agent but latterly of Manchester United, completes his switch from red to blue. The Argentine striker has cost the Eastlands club £25m to sign from his economic rights holders, and could mark the beginning of a further spree by City boss Mark Hughes. Bids for Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor (£20m) and John Terry of Chelsea (upwards of £40m) are also in the pipeline...

Liverpool look doomed to lose their popular midfielder Xabi Alonso, according to the Guardian, who report that the Spanish player has told his boss Rafa Benitez that he wants to move from Anfield to Real Madrid. If Benitez still refuses to let Alonso go, then the midfielder is willing to state publicly that he wants to leave the Merseysiders. Alonso joined the Anfield club in 2004 from Real Sociedad and quickly became a firm favourite with the fans...

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp could be on the verge of pulling off a remarkable transfer coup, luring the former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira back to north London from Inter Milan, the Daily Mail reveals. The 33-year-old French international was a stalwart of Arsene Wenger's side for nine years, winning three Premier League titles and four FA Cups with the Gunners, and his move would be highly controversial. Fulham has made a cash-plus offer for relegated West Bromwich Albion's captain Jonathan Greening. The Cottagers have bid £2.5m for the 30-year-old midfielder, and have also offered Algerian striker Hameur Bouazza as part of the transfer, the Sun reports today. Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has already had two bids of £1.8m and £2.2m for Greening knocked back, and will be hoping that the addition of Bouazza, who the west Londoners signed for £3m from Watford in 2007, will be enough to persuade the Baggies to sell their prize asset... ·
