Manchester United has stepped up its pursuit of Brazilian wunderkind Douglas Costa, opening talks with his team Gremio as the Old Trafford outfit seek to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the Times. In keeping with their new transfer policy, Costa is just 18 and has been on Sir Alex Ferguson's radar for more than a year. the Brazilian Under-20 player is reported to have a £21m release clause in his contract, but the Premier League champions will be hoping to get him for a lot less than that...

Liverpool have reached agreement with Portsmouth on a deal that will take Glen Johnson from Fratton Park to Anfield, the Guardian reports. "Liverpool FC confirmed this evening that they had reached an agreement with Portsmouth Football Club and with Glen Johnson for the transfer of the player to Anfield," a statement on the club's official website said last night. The right back is valued at £17m and had also attracted the interest of Manchester City and Chelsea. Johnson's arrival at Anfield will likely see the departure of Alvaro Arbeloa to Real Madrid...

Another player who appears to be Anfield bound is Spanish teen sensation Jesus Fernandez Saez, also known as Suso, says the Daily Mail.
