Manchester Utd track Mirko Vucinic
Transfer talk: Alex Ferguson has kept tabs on the Roma player since he scored against Man Utd in Champions League two years ago
Manchester United have added Roma striker Mirko Vucinic to their wishlist in preparation for the impending departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez. The 6ft 1in Montenegro international first exploded onto Alex Ferguson's radar when he scored for Roma against Man Utd in the Champions League quarter final between the clubs in 2007, and is versatile enough to play on the left as well as in the centre of the park. Roma would be willing to let the 25-year-old go for £15m as they face financial difficulties off the pitch, reports the Daily Mail...
Meanwhile, the Sun is exclusively revealing that Ferguson is tracking Arsenal's £20m-rated Dutch goal ace Robin van Persie. The 26-year-old striker has yet to sign on again at the Emirates and has just a year left of his current deal there. He has been offered £80,000 a week by the club, considerably less than Wayne Rooney earns at Old Trafford, and has recently admitted that winning trophies is now more important to him than money. A Dutch source told the newspaper: "Robin loves it at Arsenal but he is getting to the age when he wants to win things. He knows that there are clubs interested in him and is waiting to see what happens"...
Liverpool hope to have priced Barcelona out of a deal for their unsettled Argentinean international, Javier Mascherano, having slapped a remarkable £45m price tag on the player. The midfielder's agent was reported to have held another meeting yesterday with the European champions, but Rafa Benitez will force the Catalan giants to break the bank to lure the player from Merseyside, possibly even demanding Barcelona players in return. Meanwhile, Real Madrid appears to have ended their interest in Mascherano's fellow midfielder Xabi Alonso...
Harry Redknapp's attempts to lure Real Madrid players Arjen Robben and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to White Hart Lane have ended in disappointment, despite both being surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu. "It's absolute nonsense," Hans Robben, the attacking midfielder's father and agent, told the Times. "Arjen will certainly not join Tottenham. I will even bet a bottle of wine Arjen won’t play there." Redknapp has now turned his attention to trying to sign Nigel Reo Coker from Aston Villa, a player that Redknapp tried to sign as Portsmouth manager... ·

I do not want to say this but I do think that Mascheranos wife will be the trigger that makes him leave Liverpool and Rafa being a family man will allow this to happen, Masch's wife is not happy and does not want to return to Liverpool from her home in south America. Rafa will demand a good fee from Barca for him. Having a player unsettled because of his family life is not what Rafa will want in his squad as much as Mascherano is a strong midfielder Liverpool have several first class midfielders who can fill the void and the money Rafa can get from the sale of Mascherano can be put to good use in buying squad members.
