The Real Madrid extravaganza rumbles on. David Villa was finalising his transfer yesterday from cash-strapped Valencia to Florentino Perez's big-spending Galacticos. The Euro 2008 top scorer will move within La Liga for a mere £34m and become the third part of the £170m attacking fulcrum assembled at the Bernabeu which consists, of course, of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo. Weekend reports also had Real chasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Inter Milan, although the striker would cost them up to the £80m they splashed out on Ronaldo...

As if the sound of Real Madrid hoovering up every player across Europe that they have their eye on, Manchester United have had a fresh blow with the news that Carlos Tevez has rejected efforts by the Old Trafford club to make him stay there, and is eyeing up a move to Manchester City. Alex Ferguson has called the player twice from his south of France holiday home, but the Argentinean is standing firm in his determination not to remain with the Premier League champions, apparently happt to spend a year out of the Champions League with City...

In another sign that the balance of power in European football is shifting back to Spain, Arsenal's captain Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he would consider moving back to his previous club, the European champions Barcelona. Fabregas said that: "It’s very obvious that an offer from Barcelona would be special but being captain gives me extra responsibility and ties me closer to Arsenal." The 22-year-old was signed by Arsene Wenger six years ago, and is central to Arsenal's plans for next season...

Chelsea have taken the lead in the race to sign Portsmouth defender Glen Johnson, who, of course, moved to the south coast club from Stamford Bridge for just £4m two summers ago. Now Johnson, who shone for England in their 6-0 demolition of Andorra last week, looks like he will be going back the other way for £18m, although Liverpool, Manchester City, Spurs and Bayern Munich are also chasing the 24-year-old right back... ·

I don't see Johnson wanting to go back to a team that got rid of him such a short time ago for 4 million, I see him going to Liverpool he knows that he will get a first team place and possibly a champions league and Premiere league winners medal in his first season with the reds. He will not be assured of a first team place with Chelsea and that should sway him towards Liverpool.
