Having secured the signing of midfielder Gareth Barry on Tuesday, Manchester City have turned their attentions to Barcelona's Champions League winning striker Samuel Eto'o, according to the Daily Mail. The Eastlands club are offering Barca £20m for the player, who is believed to have been impressed by Man City's plan for the future. Chelsea have conceded defeat in their pursuit of AC Milan's Brazilian superstar Kaka, and have turned their attentions instead to bringing Franck Ribery from Bayern Munich or Valencia's David Villa to Stamford Bridge, the Guardian reveals. If the transfer goes through early next week, it will be the second time in less than seven days that Liverpool will have been gazumped in the market - they missed out on Gareth Barry earlier this week, and had hoped to secure Johnson's signature too...

The Belgian centre-half is considered one of the best defenders in the Dutch league, and would command a transfer fee of £10m, which would exhaust Wenger's transfer fund and mean he has to sell to buy any more players... ·

Wenger has a dozen and one options to sale and make cash to buy more, after he must have exhausted his transfer funds on the Belgian-Thomas Vermaelen. Arsenal must surpass their previous year's performance and Wenger must up his spendings-not necessarily over spend. If he lets go a costly player, he must buy back a costly player. Period.
