Carlos Tevez will leave Man United, says adviser
Kia Joorabchian says that his client needs to have first team football to advance his career, which Sir Alex Ferguson hasn’t been able to give him
Carlos Tevez's adviser Kia Joorabchian expects his client to leave Manchester United in the close season, explaining that the argentinean needs a new challenge after two years at Old Trafford where he has never quite broken into the starting line-up on a weekly basis. "He feels there is a very big chance that his time has come to an end and it is time to move on," Joorabchian told Sky Sports News. "He loved his time there, he mentioned that, and the glory he has had there has been very special to him. But the fact that they have not offered him a contract or made any effort to sign him up means that he probably has to move on and think about his own future"...
AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has moved into pole position in the race for the soon-to-be vacant managership at Chelsea, after his boss (and incidentally also prime minister) Silvio Berlusconi launched a scathing attack on the 49-year-old. "It’s all Ancelotti’s fault because, with the players we have, we could have easily gone head-to-head with Inter. Lots of times this season, we have made tactical mistakes," said the AC Milan president, who was reflecting on another trophyless season at the San Siro. Ancelotti could now claim interference from above as a reason for leaving Milan for the Kings Road in the summer...
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has told Valencia that he will only spend £15m on their winger David Silva. The Merseysiders had agreed a deal with the La Liga club at that price, but have now reacted angrily to the Spanish club's attempts to hike the price up for their prime asset. If Valencia won't budge on their increased valuation then Benitez is happy to let the deal die and resume his pursuit of Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing...
Pavel Pogrebnyak, a former colleague of Andrei Arshavin's at Zenit St Petersburg, has spoken of his desite to move to the London club to be with his international teammate. Pogrebnyak could come in as a like-for-like replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor, the Togolese striker who has underwhelmed many this season at the Emirates and had previously been a target of AC Milan. Pogrebnyak said: "It is the first time I've heard about Arsenal's interest, but, of course, I'm pleased that the club is interested in me. I think that for any player to get the opportunity to work with Arsene Wenger would be a big step forward"... ·
