Despite claiming at the weekend that he was happy at Barcelona and couldn't see a reason for moving anywhere else, Samuel Eto'o is reported as being offered by the Catalan giants to Manchester City for £30m. Should the moneybags Mancunians pass on the Cameroonian, then Spurs and Chelsea are reported to be waiting in the wings. One club that has already passed on the 28-year-old Eto'o is Liverpool, who baulked at his £7m a year wage demands...

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has his two main summer transfers in mind - long-term target Gareth Barry from Aston Villa and Middlesbrough's want-away winger Stewart Downing - but has been told by the club's cash-strapped hierarchy that he will have to offload players before he is allowed to bring anyone else in.
