In a move designed to strain already frayed relations between Anfield and Old Trafford, Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is to launch a bid for the unsettled Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez, who as reported here yesterday, is unhappy being left on the bench by Sir Alex Ferguson. The Man Utd boss has no control over where the Argentinean player - who would command more than £20m in transfer fees - goes at the end of his tenure at Old Trafford as he is on a controversial two-year loan deal with the Premier League champions...

Bayern Munich have denied rumours that Franck Ribery will be going anywhere this summer, despite a rash of stories linking him to Manchester United and Real Madrid, among others. Bayern's general manager Uli Hoeness told a German magazine that "I'm relaxed about Ribery. He is on a contract until June 2011 with us and we do not have any ambitions to part company with him. There is neither an offer nor an enquiry for his services"...

Ribery's French international colleague David Trezeguet of Juventus could be on the move in Italy, swapping the Stadia dell Alpe for AC Milan's San Siro.
