Fabregas to Barca: €30m plus Bojan and Thiago

Cesc Fabregas

Transfer Talk: The Gunners skipper is on his way. Nasri and Clichy may follow as Oxlade-Chamberlain signs on

The moment of truth has finally arrived for Arsenal fans and the transfer of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona is about to become reality. It is being reported in Spain that Fabregas has agreed a deal with the European and Spanish champions and all that remains is for the two clubs to thrash out a price.

Yesterday it seemed the cash-strapped Catalan club would not be able to meet Arsenal's £45m valuation of the midfielder, who has been with the Gunners since he was just 16. But Barcelona have sidestepped their money problems by offering Arsenal €30m in notes plus their two young starlets, Bojan Krkic and Thiago Alcantara.

The deal makes sense from an Arsenal perspective. Both players have been linked with the Gunners in the past. Bojan would fill one of the vacant striker's berths at the Emirates, while Thiago could help fill the hole left by the departure of Fabregas.

Spanish rag Marca reports that the major players are all in Spain and that the deal could be finalised over the weekend.

That's not the only major deal involving Arsenal that has got tongues wagging this morning. The Mirror reports that Wenger has agreed a deal for 18-year-old Southampton prodigy Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, valued at £12m.

The paper says that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be officially unveiled as a Gunner on July 1 after jetting off for a couple of weeks in the sun. The actual cost of the deal has not been disclosed but the paper says it is based on appearances and honours.

Oxlade-Chamberlain will the third young Southampton winger to be snapped up by a London club and follows in the footsteps of Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale.

However, it's not just Fabregas on his way out of Arsenal. It is widely reported that Samir Nasri has decided to leave as well, and with a lot less dignity that Fabregas.

It seems the greedy Frenchman will follow the advice of his compatriot Patrice Evra and seek a move to Arsenal's bitter rivals  Manchester United. Talks over a new contract at the Emirates have broken down and the Mail claims that discussions over a switch to Manchester are underway. The deal could be worth as much as £20m.

The possibility of United moving for Nasri might explain why Ashley Young has cancelled his wedding. The Villa man was due to tie the knot on Saturday but has called it off to ensure that his transfer to United goes through instead.

He was apparently concerned that if he went off on honeymoon before the deal was done he might return to find Nasri had taken his place in the thoughts of Alex Ferguson.

The Sun says the Villa winger will set Fergie back £20m, though the Daily Mail begs to differ, reporting that United will pay a mere £15m for the 25-year-old England star.

The Sun also speculates that the arrival at Old Trafford of Young (or Nasri) might signal the end of Nani as a United player with the Portuguese winger likely to be offloaded before the start of next season.

Talking of Portugal, Porto striker Radamel Falcao has hinted that he might be England-bound. The 25-year-old, who netted 38 times in 42 matches last season, has long been a target of Tottenham, but now it seems he's been receiving the eye from Arsenal – and he likes the attention.

The Metro reports the Colombian hitman as saying: "I know I have been linked with Real Madrid and big English clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham... I am at a moment of my career when I would like to experience it." Though Falcao is tied to Porto for a while longer he apparently has a £26m release clause in his contract that would allow him to jump ship.

More than the odd Arsenal fan won't care whether Nicklas Bendtner jumps or is pushed, just as long as he gets the hell out of the Emirates before the start of the new season – and there's good news on that score with goal.com reporting that Turkish club Besiktas are keen to snap up the Danish striker who has an aversion to scoring goals.

Besiktas had their heart set on Lazio frontman Miroslav Klose, but that's fallen through and now they're hoping to do Arsenal a favour by taking Bendtner instead.

And another of Arsenal's underperforming players might also be heading towards the exit. The Mail reports that Liverpool are poised to make a £5m offer for left-back Gael Clichy. The Frenchman is in the last 12 months of his contract with the Gunners (for whom he's played since 2003) and it's no secret he wants a fresh challenge.

The Mail says that Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish knows he needs to bolster his defence and sees Clichy as good value. Whether Clichy would want to move to Anfield remains to be seen as in recent weeks there've been rumours that Real Madrid and Roma are interested in signing the 25-year-old defender.

Finally, Talksports claim that Spurs and Everton are on the brink of coming to blows over Sporting Lisbon striker Yannick Djalo. The 25-year-old feels he's achieved all he can with the Portuguese club and wants to relaunch his career with a major European outfit.

Apparently the Toffees tried to get their hands on Djalo in January but failed and are likely to have another go this month. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, meanwhile, is desperate to strengthen his strike force and is likely to make an offer before too long. ·
