Gareth Bale fails Real Madrid’s keepy-uppies test - video
World most expensive footballer looks timid on the ball in front of Real’s expectant fans
EVERY new Galactico, when introduced at the Bernabeu for the first time, is expected to give fans an exuberant display of the keepy-uppies. Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to manage dozens when he signed from Manchester United in 2009.
Much was expected, therefore, of Gareth Bale when he was unveiled as Real Madrid’s new Number 11 yesterday - signed at a world record fee of £85.3 million.
But, having confidently spoken a few words of Spanish, Bale looked timid on the ball and, frankly, made a hash of it. As one disappointed fan posted on Twitter: "Bale only managed about eight keepy-uppies. My record is 83."
Actually it was 12 (watch the video) - still not a great tally for the world’s most expensive footballer.
