Transfer Talk: Gunners like the look of PSG’s teenage striker – but so do Chelsea

It seems that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger won't be swayed from his policy of investing in youth. Despite coming in for a heap of criticism this season for the way his side have crumbled when it counts, the Frenchman is reportedly eyeing up Jean-Christophe Bahebeck, a 17-year-old striker currently on the books of Paris Saint-Germain.

Dubbed 'the new Nicolas Anelka' by those in the know (although whether that applies to his style or his sulks isn't clear), Bahebeck (above right) has been watched by scouts from the Gunners as well as Chelsea.

In an interview with French sports daily L’Equipe, the young winger's agent, Christophe Mongai, acknowledged that the two London clubs had been over to Paris to see his client, along with scouts from Juventus and Inter Milan. However, Mongai also said: "But I don't think PSG would want to sell him." Unless, of course, the price is right.

The price isn't right as far as Chelsea and Aston Villa are concerned when it comes to Nuri Sahin. The pair had been linked with the 22-year-old earlier in the season but according to Spanish rag Marca the Turkish midfielder has agreed terms with Real Madrid in a move that will see £9m change hands between the Spanish giants and Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea had been to see Sahin in action in the Bundesliga but it's believed that his agent, Reza Fazeli, played a large part in persuading his client to move to the Bernabeu having pulled off a similar move for another player on his books, Mesut Ozil, who last summer made the switch to Madrid from Werder Bremen.

Birmingham gloveman Ben Foster is playing down rumours suggesting he might be on the brink of leaving the Blues for either Tottenham or Arsenal. The 28-year-old former Manchester United goalkeeper has been in blistering form for Birmingham this season and has attracted interest from the two north London clubs, both well known for their goalkeeping gaffes.

But Foster told Sky Sports on Monday that while he was flattered by the speculation he wasn't interested: "It's nice to be linked [with Spurs and Arsenal] but... I wouldn't want to leave to be honest with you... the dressing room we've got here and the spirit is fantastic."

Italian radio broadcaster Kiss has claimed that Napoli have told Manchester City to forget about signing Ezequiel Lavezzi in next month's transfer window. The 25-year-old striker has been in fine touch this season, his goals lifting Napoli to third in Serie A, but it's for those reasons that the Italian club want to hang on to him despite interest from cash-crazy City.

In an interview with Kiss radio, Lavezzi's agent, Alejandro Mazzoni, said of his Argentine client: "Lavezzi wants to play in the Champions League with Napoli. His intention is to play against Barcelona and Lionel Messi. I have not received any calls from any club, but if I were to, there would be nothing to negotiate."

Finally, according to Freiburg's sporting director, they have received an offer from Blackburn Rovers for Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse. The 25-year-old has netted 22 times this season in the Bundesliga, attracting greedy looks from Arsenal, Liverpool and Rovers.

Freiburg's sporting director, Dirk Dufner, told Kicker magazine: "I can confirm that Blackburn have made us an offer." Dufner didn't elaborate either on the size of the offer or Freiburg's response, but with his being contracted to the club for another three years it would have to be hefty sum. ·
