Transfer Talk: Inter Milan offer Wesley Sneijder to Man United as they target Nani

Inter Milan are so determined to snare Nani they're willing to give Manchester United Wesley Sneijder in order to facilitate a deal for the Portuguese winger. The Metro newspaper makes the astonishing claim, saying that in the wake of last week's 5-2 home drubbing by Schalke in the Champions League quarter-final, the once great Italian outfit will stop at nothing to restore their reputation.

To that end, the Metro reports that Inter believe the 24-year-old Nani is the player around whom to build a team, while hinting that United may be tempted  to do a deal. Apparently Alex Ferguson is a long time admirer of Sneijder, the 26-year-old lynchpin of the Dutch side that reached last year's World Cup final, and sees him as an ideal replacement for the ageing Paul Scholes.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also thinking of bolstering their own midfield with, whisper it, a defensive player who could bring some solidity to the Gunners rearguard and occasionally rescue the bumbling back four.

The man who could do all this is apparently Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila, and according to reports in France the Gunners will make a bid for the 20-year-old France international at the end of the season.

Talksport report that the player is valued at £15m, and that Arsenal will face competition from the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus for his signature. Rennes also claim that they will only sell for a "big" offer and that they have yet to receive any formal bids.

There is also some bad news for Arsenal fans, and we're not talking about the takeover of the patrician club by a rich American with a questionable moustache. Rather, it's the grim news that Tomas Rosicky might not be leaving the club after all.

There'd been widespread rejoicing in north London yesterday after Transfer Talk reported that the Czech midfielder was one of several flops on his way out of the Emirates in the summer. But now it seems the celebrations may have been a tad premature.

According to Rosicky's agent, the 30-year-old is determined to stick it out in order to guide the Gunners to more stunning mediocrity next season. "There have been many false rumours circulating, but at the moment, there is nothing concrete," Pavel Paska is quoted as saying by Italian website Tuttomercatoweb.

There was a glimmer of hope, however, that Rosicky might be heading towards the exit when Paska admitted that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hadn't been on the phone to quash the transfer speculation. "It has been quite some time since I have heard from Wenger. Therefore, there is no new news, and if there is a change, he will be the first to communicate this."

The Mirror says that Juventus are actively pursuing Liverpool and England full-back Glen Johnson. The Turin club need to plug some holes at the back and believe that Johnson – who arrived at Anfield from Portsmouth in 2009 – is the answer. The Mirror says that Johnson is open to offers although Liverpool would expect nothing short of £12m for the 26-year-old.

Adding some weight to those rumours is the news, courtesy of Reds legend Phil Thompson, a close friend of Kenny Dalglish, that Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Newcastle's £15m-rated left back Jose Enrique in the summer.

He told Norwegian TV: "From what I've heard, yes the deal has been done and he will come to Liverpool."

In other news, Barcelona's Jonathan Soriano has more or less ruled out a move to the Premier League, particularly as the only clubs allegedly interested in the 25-year-old striker are West Ham and Fulham.

Soriano, who's been in cracking form for the Barcelona B side this season – netting 21 goals in 26 games – has attracted interest from all over Europe, with the two London clubs leading the charge. But now he believes he's on the brink of breaking into the main Barcelona squad.

"I have received offers from abroad but I am leaving those to my representatives," Soriano told Spanish rag Sport. "I want to finish the season for Barca before deciding whether to stay or go... I have not lost the hope of making the first team and I'm still fighting for it."

Finally, Talksport report that Swiss sensation Xherdan Shaqiri – who scored his first international goal against England last autumn – is being chased by Juventus, news that will alarm Newcastle and Aston Villa. The 19-year-old is one of the most highly-rated talents in Europe and it's believed to be only a matter of time before he leaves Basle for pastures new.

The fleet-footed winger, barely 5ft 7in in his stockinged feet, has scored five goals for Basle this season but it's creativity out wide that catches the eye. According to Talksport, Juventus are in talks with Basle and it's believed the Swiss club have said they won't let Shaqiri go for less than £7m. ·
