Samir Nasri’s agent won’t deny he could quit Arsenal
Transfer Talk: More bad news for Gunners fans – keeper Hugo Lloris won’t budge from Lyon
Will Samir Nasri be the first Gunner to jump ship at the Emirates as Arsenal continue to list heavily to port? According to the respected Italian website Calciomercato.it, AC Milan and Juventus have both made gentle enquiries in recent weeks in the hope of rescuing Nasri's career after another barren season for the midfield maestro.
The 23-year-old Frenchman was inspirational for the Gunners in the first half of the season but in recent weeks Nasri's form has foundered and stories have emerged linking him with a move to Italy in the summer.
In an interview with Calciomercato.it Nasri's agent, Alain Migliaccio, tried to play down the speculation. "At the moment, there are only rumours," he said. "No one has made any contact... [but] I don't think that it would not be an impossible thing in the future."
Yet, asked to confirm that Nasri would definitely be an Arsenal player next season, Migliaccio couldn't bring himself to do it, saying instead: "I won't be ruling out a move in Italy. Milan, Juventus and Inter are big clubs, but now, he finds himself settled in well at Arsenal."
Meanwhile, there was more bad news for Arsenal with the announcement that Lyon and France gloveman Hugo Lloris has committed himself to at least one more season in French football. The 24-year-old keeper, rated one of the best in the business, has been tailed by Arsenal for months, with Manchester United also believed to be interested.
But according to French sports daily L'Equipe, Lloris has pledged his future to Lyon until after Euro 2012 because he sees a move away from France as being detrimental to his chances of establishing himself as his country’s No1 keeper.
And as if life couldn't get any worse for Arsenal fans, it now appears that they may lose out on Bolton central defender Gary Cahill after AC Milan barged in on the action.
The 26-year-old Cahill has been linked with a move to the Emirates for nearly as long as Arsene Wenger has been promising the world he has a team of world-beaters on his hands. But according to the Metro, the Bolton bruiser has had his head turned by the Italian giants. Apparently Milan see Cahill as the perfect replacement for Alessandro Nesta, their 35-year-old veteran who is coming to the end of his glorious career.
In other news, Liverpool and Everton are vying for the signature of Sevilla winger Diego Perotti. The 22-year-old twinkle-toed Argentine has been in good nick for his club this season and Talksport report that the Merseyside clubs are both trying to tempt him to the Northwest. Though Perotti is contracted to Sevilla until 2015, it's believed the club would bite the bullet and wave goodbye to the South American provided they receive £16m in return.
Finally, the Liverpool Post reports that Everton are doing everything in their power to persuade Marouane Fellaini to remain at Goodison Park. It's believed that Real Madrid have been courting the 23-year-old Belgian midfielder in recent weeks, but Toffees boss David Moyes is prepared to break the bank to keep Fellaini on Merseyside.
"Talks have started now, even though I've not spoken to Marouane personally about it," said Moyes. He said of the player who arrived from Standard Liege in 2008 for a club record £15m: "He's really important to us, part of the furniture here now, and of course we want him to stay." ·
