Neymar slams media after Real Madrid transfer question

Neymar has reacted angrily to questions about his future at Paris Saint-Germain. Earlier this month reports emerged in the French press that suggested the Brazilian striker was unhappy in Paris and was seeking a return to Spain because he didn’t find the domestic championship challenging enough.

Real Madrid and not Barcelona – the club he left for PSG in August in a record £200million transfer – has been mooted as a possible destination but when the subject was put to him he didn’t respond well.

According to talkSPORT, passing on information quoted in the Spanish newspaper AS, Neymar was heard to mutter: “For f***’s sake. Have you got nothing else to talk about?” He then turned on his heel and distanced himself from the press pack.

The Sun claims that Real Madrid want the 25-year-old Neymar as the long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who turns 33 in February, but it seems highly improbable that PSG would sell on their star asset.

If he’s missing Spain, it’s not affecting his on-field performance, as he demonstrated in the 7-1 thrashing of Celtic on Wednesday evening. Neymar helped himself to two goals and has now scored six in the five games of the group stage, part of a record 24-goal haul for the French giants.

The Sun says that Neymar also “got annoyed” when he was fatuously asked if the 7-1 thrashing of Celtic was the same as Brazil’s defeat to Germany in the 2014 World Cup semi-final.

“You never stop reminding me of that day, right?” he snapped. His reaction was understandable given the irrelevance of that result to the one dished out to Celtic three-and-a-half years later.
