Furious Spurs drop BassBuds after 'comedy' pitch invasions

Spurs have severed links with headphone manufacturer BassBuds after three pranksters wearing branded clothing disrupted their Europa League match against Partizan Belgrade.

The three pitch invaders, described as "pranksters" from YouTube comedy channel TrollStation, caused the tie to be suspended for several minutes after they ran on to the White Hart Lane pitch in separate incidents during the first half of the game.

A video of their exploits, entitled Pitch Invasion Challenge, later appeared on YouTube.

However, Spurs have not seen the funny side of their antics as Uefa are now expected to charge the club over the security breaches and could hit them with a heavy fine, reports the Daily Mail.

All three pranksters were wearing BassBuds clothing and the furious club has "severed links with the company after the stunt and could well take legal action if they are found to have links to it," adds the paper.

"Tottenham have removed all mentions of the brand from club channels and related stock from their shops while they investigate whether the company was involved," says the Evening Standard.

BassBuds scrambled to distance themselves from the incident afterwards, declaring: "We do not condone the interruption of any sporting fixture in this way."

Despite that, other Twitter users were quick to point out that the headphone company had previously tweeted its support of TrollStation and before the match one of the pitch invaders sent a message that namechecked BassBuds and suggested something was afoot.

The three pitch invaders, named as Gomes Garcia, Nathan Brown and Dan Jarvis, were all still in custody on Friday morning according to the Mail, but there was little sign of contrition on the TrollStation twitter account.

It even appeared to suggest other members of the group not involved on Thursday could appear at other grounds in the country in the future.

Spurs eventually won the match against Partizan 1-0, a result that sends them through to the last 32 in the competition.
