Now Barcelona join chase for Arsenal’s Theo Walcott
First Juventus now Barca could be in the market for Arsenal's winger
NOT CONTENT with robbing Arsenal of Cesc Fabregas, Barcelona are now believed to be preparing for another pillage of the Emirates. This time the player in their sights is Theo Walcott, the 22-year-old winger recently linked with a move to Juventus. But that was before the Metro got wind of "a surprise bid" that will allegedly be made by the Catalan club in the New Year.
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola was apparently impressed with what he saw of Walcott when the two sides clashed in last season's Champions League and he believes the Englishman will offer the Spanish champions options out wide. With Alexis Sanchez and Ibrahim Afellay both sidelined for months through injury, Guardiola is reportedly convinced that Walcott is the man to fill the void.
The Metro adds that while Arsenal are cautiously optimistic that they can persuade Walcott to remain at the club, a big money offer from Barcelona might "turn his head".
Still with Arsenal, and Talksport reports that the Gunners along with Chelsea look set to miss out on Porto frontman Givanildo Vieira de Souza, better known as Hulk.
The Brazilian striker has attracted interest from both Premier League clubs in recent months but the 25-year-old appears content to remain in Portugal. "I hope to continue giving much joy to this club," replied Hulk when asked if he might consider a move to England.
"I am very grateful to the club and I will not leave although rumours continue to appear in the newspapers."
Hulk has netted 27 times in his last 33 matches for Porto, one reason why his agent claimed recently that if either Chelsea or Arsenal did want his client they'd have to fork out around £100m.
The Metro reckons that Manchester City full-back Aleksandar Kolarov could be on his way to Juventus in January as the 25-year-old has failed to establish himself at Eastlands since arriving from Lazio in the summer of 2010. The Turin club have been attracted by the Serbian's £8m price tag and coach Antonio Conte is reportedly keen to snap up the Balkans blocker when the New Year transfer window opens.
Meanwhile City star David Silva has rubbished reports that he might be off to Spain in the near future. In an interview with Cadena SER, the 25-year Spanish playmaker said: "Barcelona and Real Madrid are great teams but I'm very happy here and would like to be here for many years here. My family is like me, happy... the atmosphere suits me, the competitiveness and tranquillity of every day is essential."
The World Cup winner arrived in Manchester in July 2010 and has been an integral part of the Sky Blues squad ever since.
Finally, the Daily Mirror claims that Liverpool have joined the race to sign 14-year-old sensation Oluwaseyi Ojo. As Transfer Talk reported last week, the young midfielder caught the eye of Chelsea scouts after impressing for England Under-16s in their recent defeat of Northern Ireland.
Rumours that the Blues had offered MK Dons £2m proved unfounded, with manager Karl Robinson saying: "That's not to say they or another Premier League club won't approach us. He's as good as I've seen at that age."
Now, according to the Mirror, Liverpool are sniffing around Ojo with Reds boss Kenny Dalglish allegedly willing to "offer more money up front than Chelsea" in the hope of landing the wunderkid.
