Arsenal and Real Madrid at war over Yann M'Vila
Rennes 'ready' to let their star midfielder go - but are Gunners prepared to sell Van Persie?
AS FAR as Yann M’Vila is concerned it boils down to a battle of wills between Arsenal and Real Madrid. That’s the view of Rennes teammate and best buddy Kader Mangane. In an exclusive interview with goal.com, Mangane says the 21-year-old midfielder is likely to leave the French club next year. “I don’t think he will leave in January but I think he will join Real Madrid or Arsenal next summer.”
Apparently the Gunners were one of four clubs who made Rennes an offer last summer, with bids reaching as high as £26m. The French outfit held on to their man but now believe the time is right to sell. And Mangane believes that M’Vila – already capped 15 times by France – has the world at his feet. “Yann has the potential to be one of the biggest players in the world,” said Mangane. “He has extraordinary abilities.”
Talking of extraordinary abilities, Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will apparently be approached by Inter Milan in January. According to the Metro, the Italian club have identified the Dutchman as their saviour and coach Claudio Ranieri has asked president Massimo Moratti to break the bank in order to lure the 28-year-old from the Emirates.
The Metro says that Inter will offer the Gunners £30m, a sum that might well tempt Arsene Wenger to part with Van Persie rather than risk losing him when his contract expires at the end of next season.
Elsewhere, Spanish rag El Mundo Deportivo claims that Chelsea are trawling La Liga in a bid to bolster their creaking squad.
With the Blues yet to find their form this season under new coach Andre Villas-Boas, Chelsea are allegedly in talks with Barcelona over their 19-year-old midfielder Sergio Roberto and 20-year-old right-back Martin Montoya, and sounding out Real Madrid about their 15-year-old striker Jose Pozo.
Talksport reports that Liverpool “have made contact” with Barcelona to see if they might offload midfielder Seydou Keita. The Mali star has impressed this season but it’s not only the Reds in the hunt for the 31-year-old. Apparently Russian club Anzhi also have their eye on the African veteran. Barcelona’s asking price is £14m.
Finally, another day and another David Beckham story, this one suggesting that Golden Balls could be tempted to see out his career in central America. Talksport claims that Mexican club Xoloitzcuintles Tijuana have offered the 36-year-old playmaker a six-month deal for the first half of 2012 and will pay him £6m for services rendered.
Though Becks has been linked with both Paris Saint Germain and Tottenham, Talksport says he could be tempted by the huge pay day as well as the chance to remain with his family in California as Xoloitzcuintles Tijuana say they will fly him to training and matches in a private jet. ·
