Real Madrid 'masterplan' to steal Arsenal's Jack Wilshere
Wilshere said to be one of five players sought by Real in desperate bid to usurp Barcelona
IT'S EVERY Arsenal fans worst nightmare, save for the one that involves Nicklas Bendtner returning to the Emirates. Apparently Jack Wilshere (above) is the target of an audacious swoop by Real Madrid. According to the Metro, the Spanish giants have produced ‘Operation Madrid 2014', a plan by which they mean to conquer the football world within three years.
So dismayed have Real become at the success of hated rivals Barcelona that they have drawn up a wish-list of five players to bring to the Bernabeu within the next 12 months. Arsenal midfielder Wilshere is one of the five, along with Lille star Eden Hazard, Athletic Bilbao winger Iker Muniain, Barcelona midfielder Rafinha Alcantara and Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze, recently linked with a move to the Gunners.
Attributing the story to Spanish rag Marca, the Metro claims that Real coach Jose Mourinho would prefer to build the future around talented youngsters rather than investing in established greats. This is in contrast to the policy of some of his predecessors who spent small fortunes in bringing the likes of David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo to the Spanish capital.
Wilshere, currently sidelined with an ankle injury, has spoken recently of his desire to remain with Arsenal but should Real offer the Gunners an obscene amount of cash, the 19-year-old could be on his way south.
One player who won't be on his way north is AC Milan defender Taye Taiwo. The gifted 26-year-old left-back is wanted by both Liverpool and Newcastle but the player's agent is having none of it.
Talksport quotes Fabio Parisi as saying "there is no truth" in the story that the Nigerian is likely to move to England in the New Year. Parisi adds: "It is not part of Taye's plans to leave Milan in January. The player is relaxed and has no problems with the coach." The coach in question, former Chelsea guv'nor Claudio Ranieri, is allegedly less than impressed with Taiwo since he arrived at the San Siro from Marseille in the summer.
In other news, the Belgian paper De Standaard claims that Fulham striker Moussa Dembele might be on the brink of swapping the Cottage for the Lane. Apparently Tottenham are preparing a £10m January offer for the Belgian frontman having been impressed by his performances since arriving at Craven Cottage from AZ Alkmaar last year.
Talking to De Standaard, the 24-year-old Dembele said: "It would obviously be a step higher, and that has always been my goal. I did well last season when I was not injured... so why not step higher?"
Finally, Manchester City could look to battle Arsenal for the right to sign Rennes defensive midfielder Yann M'Vila. That's according to former Gunner Patrick Vieira, now employed by the Sky Blues as a football development executive. He told French broadcaster Canal Plus: "I am sure that City are not the only club interested in him."
The 21-year-old M'Vila, likened to a young Vieira, has already played 16 times for France and is touted as one of the most exciting midfielders in the game. ·
