Juventus 'hopeful' Arsenal will sell Walcott and take Krasic
Serbian desperate to join the Gunners – but has anyone asked Theo about leaving for Juventus?
JUVENTUS are said to be "hopeful" that Arsenal will be willing to part with Theo Walcott next month. Preposterous as it sounds, the Italian outfit apparently have it in their heads that the Gunners will sell the England winger in part exchange for Milos Krasic.
According to the Metro, Juventus believe Walcott is worth £20m and will offer the Gunners at least £10m in cash plus the 27-vear-old Krasic. The Serbian striker was rumoured to have been on Arsenal's radar 15 months ago but the London club lost out to Juventus. Things haven't worked out for Krasic in Italy and now the player is desperate to revive his career at the Emirates.
Just how keen Walcott is on a move to Italy isn't known, but the Metro speculates that Arsenal might be tempted to sell in January while he has 18 months left on his contract, rather than run the risk of the player decamping on a free transfer at the end of next season.
Still with Arsenal and the news isn't good from Germany where Borussia Dortmund winger Kevin Grosskreut has declared that he and team-mate Mario Gotze have no intention of moving to the Emirates. Bild reports an interview with the 23-year-old Grosskreutz who says: "He cannot leave without me because we are always together. Gotze and I will stay until 2014."
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been on the tail of the 20-year-old Gotze for months but the midfielder apparently believes his career would be best served by another couple of seasons in the Bundesliga champions.
In other news, the Mirror claims that Frank Lampard might be on his way to Tottenham in exchange for Luka Modric. Apparently Chelsea will renew their interest in the Croatian midfielder in the New Year having failed with a £40m bid last summer. So determined are the Blues to get their man that they will pay Spurs a substantial sum as well as throwing the 33-year-old Lampard into the bargain, and that says the Mirror "could swing the deal".
Meanwhile one Chelsea striker will definitely be leaving the club in January but his exact destination has yet to be officially confirmed. On Saturday manager Andre Villas-Boas confirmed that the club had accepted an offer for Nicolas Anelka, while also saying that defender Alex was free to leave the Bridge.
Now goal.com reports that Anelka might be bound for Canada and a lucrative contract with Montreal Impact of the MLS league. Speaking to goal.com, Montreal coach Jesse Marsch said he had "very good" discussions with the French forward.
As for Anelka, he released a statement on his official website in which he said: "I've known for a little while where I'll be on January 2. The club, which is going through a difficult time, has decided to work with Chelsea's players of the future and, as I am a good professional, I have accepted this."
Finally, The Sun claims that Lazar Markovic is angling for a "dream" move to Chelsea. The 17-year-old plays for Partizan Belgrade and is being chased by numerous tops clubs in Europe. Now the Serb striker says he wants to end up at the Bridge. "I really hope I can go to Chelsea, it's my dream... any time they are on TV I try to watch them. For me Chelsea are the best." ·
