MPs on the Public Accounts Committee will quiz executives from Starbucks, Amazon and Google today over claims they pay little or no corporation tax in the UK. Matt Brittin, Google’s vice-president of northern Europe; Troy Alstead, Starbucks chief financial officer; and Andrew Cecil, Amazon's director of public policy, will all answer questions. Yesterday, former City minister Lord Myners told The Sunday Telegraph that corporation tax is “close to being a voluntary payment” and that the government should consider a sales tax instead.
