THE COMPANY that brought you BigDog and SquishBot has just unleashed Petman, an anthropomorphic robot developed for the US Army.

The robot, which would give Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator a run for its money, can walk, dance and do press-ups. However, it is not meant to replace human soldiers.

Instead, Petman has been built to test protective gear which is being developed for soldiers. To that end, it can sweat like a human. But as one YouTube commenter said: "If this is the level of technology they show to the public, imagine the level of technology they have in their top secret projects." Perhaps we should be afraid. ·
