New Bond film Skyfall set for October 2012 release
Berenice and Naomie hope to prove you don't only live once as a Bond girl
DANIEL CRAIG will reprise his role as British secret agent James Bond in the film Skyfall, the 23rd installment of the successful franchise. Details of the movie, which will be directed by Sam Mendes and is scheduled for release in October 2012, were announced today
The man playing the arch-villain in the latest adventure, Javier Bardem, needs no introduction. The 42-year-old Spanish actor proved he could play bad guys in No Country For Old Men and let slip that he was starring in Bond 23 earlier this month.
However, the latest Bond girls are less well known - Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris.
Malohe is a French model and actress who has appeared in several TV shows in her homeland, but has little big screen experience. This will be her first English-speaking role.
Harris is a 35-year-old British actress who appeared in the horror film 28 Days Later and played Tia Dalma in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. She told the Daily Mirror she’s been undergoing intensive yoga training to get a herself “a killer Bond babe body”.
Both women will be hoping to do as well out of the Bond films as Eva Green and Gemma Arterton have managed in the Craig era.
Green, who played opposite Craig in his Bond debut Casino Royale, went on to star in Philip Pullman’s The Golden Compass and the TV mini-series Camelot. Gemma Arterton, who got her break in Quantum of Solace, has starred in Tamara Drewe and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
