Budget Bowie: check out Ziggy Stardust's £8 music video
Singer didn't win Mercury Prize, but homemade clip for new single Love is Lost wowed the crowd
DAVID BOWIE didn't turn up at last night's Mercury Prize ceremony in London, but a homemade video he shot for £8 still managed to steal the show.
The clip, which accompanies his new single Love is Lost, was made last weekend in the corridor of the singer's Manhattan office.
Bowie "eschewed both celebrity guests and splashy production", says Music.com. Indeed the only props are a couple of puppets from his private collection - one of which looks eerily like the Pierrot who appeared in the Ashes to Ashes video.
Bowie describes the video as a "gothic inflected story line perfect for Halloween". Oh, and the £8 budget? That was blown on the USB drive used to download and store the finished clip. ·
