MI6 chief’s girl poses with Saddam’s golden AK47
Sir John Sawers’s daughter posts picture of herself holding golden Kalashnikov in classic terrorist pose
The head of MI6, Sir John Sawers, appears to have some explaining to do after his daughter posted pictures of herself posing with a gold-plated Kalashnikov on Facebook.
Oxford graduate Corrine Sawers, 23, is seen in a picture posted on her Facebook account holding the weapon in the trademark pose of celebrated female terrorist Leila Khalid (above right).
The gun, now decommissioned, is believed to be from Saddam Hussein's private collection as Sir John is said to have received one as a memento of his service in Baghdad after the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Corrine had set her profile to be available to view by 'friends of friends', which amounts to around 10,000 people.
The story comes just days after the British spy chief gave a rare public speech to deliver a warning about cyber threats to intelligence services.
As the head of MI6, Sawers and his family are expected to be cautious about revealing details of their private life because they could be potential targets for terrorist assassination.
But Lady Shelley Sawers was criticised last year for uploading intimate holiday photographs on the day Sir John was made the head of MI6, picturing her husband wearing swimming trunks. ·

If she learns to use it she might a lot more use than the T*****s at present leading this country.
Classic pose, oxford graduate, eh? What did she graduate in... Public Relations or Politics and International Relations? Just another spoilt rich girl with more brass than brain.
Seriously Ms Taylor, 'classic terrorist pose'?- "holding the weapon in the trademark pose of celebrated female terrorist Leila Khalid" - I don't knwo what other picture you were looking at when you wrote teh article, BUT there are NO similarities in pose. Hope you got the traffic you were looking for with the Headline...
I find it a bit distasteful that a 'just cause' to remove the threat of WMDs in Iraq appears now not only to have been spuriously undertaken, but ultimately fought largely for the acquisition of trophies and souvenirs, be they Kalashnikovs or construction contracts.
It's a good job I never posted a picture of myself holding the little celuloid weather sonde my father liberated from the Japanese Imperial Army during WW2 when he was in Burma - someone might conceivably written a non-story about that too, perhaps involving Mr Sulu from Star Trek!
'Classic Terrorist Pose'? If she was wearing a headscarf and combat fatigues, maybe. A typical 'non-story' about a young woman messing about on Facebook, who just happens to have a well known dad. A slow news day perhaps?
