Heidi Mount’s husband suspected of rape at LFW

The husband of the American supermodel Heidi Mount has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman during London fashion week. Shawn Mount, a 30-year-old New York hair stylist who is married to the Chanel model, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a five-star London hotel in the early hours of September 20.

Shawn Mount was arrested last Tuesday - the day after the alleged rape took place - and held by Scotland Yard detectives. He has since been released on bail until November 10 and is said to be currently working at Milan fashion week.

Mount is a Manhattan-based hair stylist who has worked for Vogue and on advertising campaigns for brands such as Ralph Lauren. He is thought to have attended a fashion week after-party with his alleged 24-year-old victim. Details of the attack first emerged yesterday in several New York newspapers.

Mount's 23-year-old wife Heidi (above) has modelled for Armani, Alexander McQueen and Dior and last year replaced Claudia Schiffer as the face of Chanel. She was reportedly on an assignment in Milan when the alleged rape happened. The couple, who married in 2007, have a three-year-old son.

Yesterday the Metropolitan Police released the following statement: "We received a complaint of a serious sexual assault at 1.30am on September 20 at a central London hotel. The 24-year-old victim was referred to the Haven Centre (a victim support centre). A 30-year-old man was arrested on September 21 on suspicion of rape and bailed to return to a London police station in November. He has not been charged and we are still investigating." ·
