Coleen to take Roo back but Coke may dump him
Coca-Cola execs may fear news that striker used prostitutes could tarnish brand
Coleen Rooney may have told friends and family yesterday she will take her husband Wayne Rooney back because she still loves him – but sponsors Coca-Cola may not be so forgiving.
Coke execs in the US are said to be furious that their brand is associated with Rooney after it emerged he allegedly slept with two prostitutes while his wife was pregnant. Their UK counterparts, however, say Rooney’s behaviour may be no big deal.
Rooney has had a connection with the global soft drink brand since he first appeared in one of their commercials in 2003. He now earns £600,000 a year as the face of Coke Zero and sports drink Powerade.
The deal is a signifcant part of the £2.5m a year Rooney earns from sponsors including Nike, EA Sports and Tiger Beer. Nike and EA Sports have issued statements saying they will stand by their man – so that’s a few bob safe.
Coca-Cola's US executives are understood to be appalled by Rooney’s behaviour. Earlier this year they found it in themselves to forgive him for being photographed smoking, urinating against a wall and singing raucously – but the prostitutes are apparently too much.
It’s understood though that their UK counterparts don’t agree, feeling that as Coke Zero is marketed at lads – and sometimes dubbed 'Bloke Coke' – Rooney’s use of glamorous call girls presents no problem. A decision will be made in the next fortnight.
Last night, Rooney found himself at a loose end after Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson decided not to play him against Everton in order to avoid the torrents of abuse he would have received.
Rooney made good use of the time, reportedly spending five hours with his wife. According to a “close friend” quoted in the Mail on Sunday, “Mostly, it’s been Coleen shouting and Wayne grunting.”
It seems to have worked. Coleen emerged from the summit at 8pm and told friends: "I hate him right now, but deep down I know I love him and this is the man I should be with." ·

The sad thing is, ONE of the women he slept with has said she has SLEPT WITH 500 MEN!!!! And the how many men, has the other woman slept with! Just imagine all the things together, that they HAVE & this could have been passed on to his Wife & child! I can't believe she is taking him back! So, does that mean, he can to ANYTHING? And she will always take him back? Well it would appear so. That teaches some kids, if you're rich & famous, it's all OK. Do what you want - doesn't matter who gets hurt. Money can buy anything....until it runs out. Lets hope she don't do what he has done, I dont't think he would take her back. I wonder what he is doing right NOW. He has lost me as a fan, FOREVER. And I HOPE coke drops him too!
My God, what breath taking hypocricsy in societies where swapping partners, infidelity, multiple partners are the order of the day! Does Wayne Rooneys paying officially for sex really make a difference to the cocacola drinking public? I doubt that it will. Wake up to the facts of life people. Or are famous sportsmen supposed to display higher morals than the general public?
Of course Coke execs are "furious". They are the whoriest of all.
When a good-looking girl shags a famously ugly (but VERY rich) bloke, there's usually no confusion over her motive. Certainly, there's none where the prostitutes are concerned. The WAG phenomenon however clouds things, just a little. Does Coleen LOVE Wayne, "truly, madly, deeply"... or is he just the "cost" that makes the difference between a WAG lifestyle and stacking shelves in Tesco? This is an age in which a frightening number of young girls see "Lap Dancer", "WAG", "Prostitute", and "Glamour model" as career choices that provide a socially acceptable route to fame and fortune - without the need for education, brains or talent.
Would serve the plonker right. He may be good a football, but morally and emotionally he is just an over-inflated egomaniac with perchance to abuse others including those closest to him, his family. Forgiveness is a virtue, bless the long suffering spouse. But really are we wanting our kids to grow up thinking if they can push a ball around, they can do likewise to everyone else. I may start drinking coke again if they drop him.. Bullies don't always outgrow their childhood.
Re. Tony Platt, above. I wonder if Coleen made Wayne do that?

Surely though all they would need to do is put the brand in a glass of Coke and it would come out shining again ?
