Mad Men’s Hendricks eyes big-screen roles
Christina Hendricks to star alongside Carey Mulligan in new thriller Drive
Just as the latest series of Mad Men begins on British television, it seems one of the award-winning show's top stars Christina Hendricks is enjoying a blossoming big screen career.
According to Variety, Hendricks has signed up for a new action thriller by Bronson director Nicolas Winding Refn. She will appear alongside the British actress Carey Mulligan and The Notebook star Ryan Gosling.
Based on the James Sallis crime novel of the same name, Drive tells the story of a Hollywood stunt driver (Gosling) who moonlights as a getaway driver for a Los Angeles crime gang.
Hendricks (pictured with her 'Mad Men' co-star Jon Hamm, above, who is currently cultivating his movie career at the Venice film festival) is set to star in a number of feature films as well as Drive.
Her upcoming movies include the romantic comedy Life As We Know It, starring Katherine Heigl, Leonie, with Emily Mortimer, and Detachment, starring Adrien Brody, James Caan and Lucy Liu.
In the meantime, Hendricks can be seen in the role she is best-known for - that of typing pool queen bee Joan - in series four of Mad Men, which began last night on BBC4.
