Lohan leaves rehab early - she’s no addict say doctors

Lindsay Lohan

Doctors at UCLA find no evidence of drug or alcohol addiction; nor is she bipolar

Lindsay Lohan has been released from rehab in Los Angeles after staying only 23 of the 90 days originally set by Judge Marsha Revel following the actress's short spell in jail for breaking the terms of a drink-driving parole term.

Doctors at the UCLA neuropsychiatric hospital reportedly persuaded a second judge, Elden Fox, that there was no need for her to remain at the facility and that she should be released immediately.

According to the gossip site TMZ.com, the UCLA doctors felt that Judge Revel - who earlier this month removed herself from the Lohan case - had over-reacted in setting such a long period of in-patient treatment.

They have concluded that while Lohan might suffer from a personality disorder as a result of difficulties growing up in Hollywood, she does not suffer from the drug or psychiatric problems that were previously diagnosed.

They have also established that she is addicted to neither drugs nor alcohol. She has apparently shown no withdrawal symptoms after being "weaned off" the medication she was taking - Dilaudid, Adderall and Zoloft among others - and having stopped drinking.

Nor does she suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), for which she was prescribed the Adderall. And for good measure, she's not bipolar either. "It seems she's not addicted to anything except publicity," one Hollywood reporter commented.

It is not certain whether Lohan will dive straight back into her Hollywood life and attend tonight's LA premiere of her new film Machete, which stars Robert De Niro and Jessica Alba. It is possible that a condition of her early release will be that she moves home to New York.

One thing is for sure - if her lawyers are to be believed, she leaves rehab with her ego in good shape.

Stephanie Ovadia is representing Lohan her in a $100m lawsuit concerning a TV ad which features a 'milkaholic' baby named Lindsay.

In an effort to stop the case against the online brokerage E-Trade being dismissed, Ovadia has just filed court papers in New York restating her argument that while many people in America may be called Lindsay, only one springs to mind when a baby is described as 'milkaholic'.

In short, she says, her client's name has the stand-alone status of Oprah's or Madonna's. ·
