Jenson Button rekindles his romance with Jessica - but where does it leave Nicole in the F1 beauty contest?

Racing driver Jenson Button has followed in the footsteps of his McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton by first splitting from and then getting back together with his glamorous girlfriend.

Button, the reigning Formula 1 world champion, has been reunited with Japanese lingerie model Jessica Michibata (above left) two months after they broke up - and their reconciliation was made public in the run-up to the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend as the pair strolled hand in hand around the Hungaroring near Budapest.

Button and Michibata initially called things off after the Monaco Grand Prix in May. They had been together for 18 months and although Michibata was nearly always trackside for Button's races, the pressures of constant travelling took their toll on the relationship and Button eventually pulled the plug.

Their break-up came just a few months after Hamilton and Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger (above right)called time on their romance, citing similar problems. But, just like Button and Michibata, Hamilton and Scherzinger were reunited within a couple of months.

But now that both McLaren drivers are back with their partners, tongues are wagging over how the two women get on. Before the start of the season there was plenty of speculation that Button and Hamilton would not be good team-mates, but while several other drivers have fallen out, the two British men appear to be getting on famously.

Scherzinger and Michibata, however, have yet to be appear in the McLaren garage at the same race - suggesting they have not become bosom buddies. Intriguingly, Scherzinger made her first appearance of the year at the Turkish Grand Prix in late May. That race came after Button and Michibata split up and was the first of the year that the lingerie model did not attend.

Now that Michibata is back after two months away, Scherzinger once again faces stiff competition in the pit-lane glamour stakes. But it remains to be seen if the two highest profile F1 girlfriends come face-to-face in the closing stages of the season as their men battle it out for the F1 drivers’ title. ·
