Ronaldo will raise baby himself as mother’s identity remains secret
Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal's playboy footballer, has become a father to a baby boy who he plans to raise himself. The child is thought to have been born about a month before the 25-year-old winger's mediocre World Cup performance.
Ronaldo announced the news early on Sunday morning with a personal statement posted on his Facebook and Twitter pages, saying that it was "with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father [sic] to a baby boy". The news was confirmed by his agent late last night.
Intriguingly, the identity of the baby's mother, thought to be an American, will remain a secret. "As agreed with the baby's mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship."
Ronaldo's current girlfriend, Russian underwear model Irina Shayk, also commented on the birth via Facebook, noting that: "My boyfriend is now the father of a boy."
The news will spark a flurry of speculation over who the baby's mother is. The footballer - who earns around €220,000 a week at Real Madrid and is also the face of Armani (above) - has been linked to a string of American women since his transfer to the Spanish club last year. They include reality TV star Kim Kardashian, hotel heiress Paris Hilton and swimwear model Niki Ghazian. ·
