Biker sues Bob Geldof for £300,000 after accident
‘He left me needing more than a Band-Aid,’ says motorcyclist hit by Geldof’s car
A motorcyclist is suing Bob Geldof for at least £300,000 for injuries sustained in a road accident three years ago. Andrew Quinn broke his right leg in two places and splintered his knee when his Honda motorbike collided with Geldof's Lexus car on the King's Road in Chelsea, London.
Quinn, 42, claims he was doing 25mph when Geldof's car did a sudden U-turn. "I hit the brakes but there was no way I could stop," said Quinn.
"I flew through the air thinking, 'This is going to hurt'. It was agony, despite full protective gear. The driver stood over me. I was only aware of a mop of hair staring down."
Quinn only realised the driver was the outspoken former Boomtown Rats frontman and charity concert organiser when a policeman handed over his insurance details in the ambulance.
But Quinn, who worked for Microsoft at the time of the accident in 2007, told the Daily Mail: "The injuries may be with me for the rest of my life. He left me needing more than a Band-Aid."
Geldof seems surprised to be at the receiving end of a High Court writ, saying: "This is the first I've heard about it. I thought the matter had been resolved by the insurance firm but thank you for letting me know." ·
