French press await Bruni-Sarkozy baby
In France, the First Lady’s baby is as eagerly anticipated as a new iPhone
THE FRENCH press are pacing the corridors as they anxiously await the birth of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy's baby. While her husband, the French president Nicolas Sarkozy is away on diplomatic talks in Armenia, it seems the First Lady is busy keeping reporters in suspense.
We thought that Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was going to give birth at the beginning of the week, bemoans the French website AuFeminin. "We are still waiting". Yes, it's like waiting for the arrival of a new Apple product, says Voici.fr. "We know it's coming, but we don't know when the official announcement will be."
Meanwhile, French radio station Europe 1 says preparations are underway at Paris's La Muette hospital where Bruni-Sarkozy will give birth. An anonymous member of the medical team told the station that staff had been put to work to ensure the hospital was ship shape.
Bruni-Sarkozy will apparently occupy one of the large maternity suites of the hospital which, though spacious and clean, is not considered "luxurious". For security reasons, three or four neighbouring rooms around the suite will be cleared.
So for the time being, those hoping to catch a glimpse of the President's wife might have to head to the cinema instead. Bruni-Sarkozy has a cameo in Woody Allen's latest film, Midnight in Paris. ·
