Footballer’s marriage to Cheryl Cole could be in jeopardy after latest allegations of infidelity

The future of Cheryl Cole's marriage to Chelsea and England footballer Ashley Cole has been thrown into doubt once again after he was accused of indulging in 'text sex' with a secretary and sending her X-rated photos of himself. The allegations surfaced just days after Ashley Cole was forced to explain how another woman, a topless model, had ended up with similar raunchy pictures of him on her mobile phone.

The high-profile couple are said to have barely seen each other over the last two weeks after Cheryl vacated their Surrey home and moved into a hotel in London for work reasons. The pair also spent Valentine's Day apart as she rehearsed with Girls Aloud ahead of the Brit Awards on Tuesday night.

In addition to reporting on Ashley's latest misdemeanors, the Sun claims that Cheryl's bandmates are now urging her to leave her errant husband, who was accused of cheating on her with a hairdresser in early 2008.

His latest indiscretions first came to light last week when glamour model Sonia Wild revealed that racy photos of Ashley had been sent to her mobile phone, and that she had exchanged texts with someone claiming to be Ashley. However, the footballer explained that the pictures were sent from a pay-as-you go phone that he had passed on to a friend, who in turn had given it to another friend, and it was the third person who had found the images and sent them to the model.

Asked why he had taken explicit photos of himself Cole said that he had been "larking about" in the England squad's Hertfordshire hotel while on international duty in June last year. He said he had forgotten to get rid of the shots before passing on the phone.

That version of events appeared to have passed muster until today when the Sun reported that another unnamed woman had exchanged similar texts and photos with the player using the same phone in late 2008.

The paper claims that over the course of two months Cole sent the 26-year-old secretary hundreds of explicit texts and a series of photos that showed him in a state of undress and also arousal. According to the Sun, during their first 'text sex' session, in October 2008, Cole wrote: "I beg u keep this between us x." Later he sent another text that read: "Please delete all texts ill have no balls left."

The longest text session took place later that month when a total of 57 texts were sent over the course of a weekend. The Sun says that the exchanges occurred when Cheryl Cole was working on the Saturday evening TV talent show, The X Factor.

The latest revelations cap a bad week for Ashley. The England left back broke his ankle on Wednesday and is now fighting to be fit for the World Cup this summer. Still, he should be able to find a shoulder to cry on when his Chelsea team-mate John Terry returns from Dubai, where he has been trying to patch things up with his wife after he was accused of having an affair with Vanessa Perroncel. ·
