Tiger’s wife ‘calls off divorce’ after clinic visit

Elin Nordegren is reported to have called off her divorce from golfer Tiger Woods after spending five days with him last week at the Mississippi clinic where he is said to be undergoing sex addiction therapy.

On her return home to Florida, she has apparently told friends that "things went well" at the clinic and that she is convinced Tiger is trying this best to save their marriage.

The American website Radar Online quotes friends of Nordegren saying of Tiger: "He's told her he's serious about making it work and doing whatever he can." She, in turn, has agreed to try to make the marriage work, they say.

"She was happy when she came home," one source told the website.

Her visit was part of the so-called Gentle Path therapy programme which includes a "disclosure day" where the addict must admit all their secret affairs to their partner.

According to the latest count, there would have been 19 mistresses on Tiger's checklist, including a British woman, Emma Rotherham, whom the golfer is alleged to have paid $500,000 for her silence.

Elin Nordegren's return home coincided with a report by the American investigative reporter Gerald Posner that she first found about her husband's infidelity when, suspicious, she took Tiger's mobile phone while he was asleep and sent a phoney text message to Rachel Uchitel.

"I miss you. When are we seeing each other again?" it said.

Uchitel walked into Nordegren's trap and texted back. Two months later, Tiger is still paying the price - up to $1m a day in lost sponsorship fees, potential winnings and appearance pay, according to some reports. ·
