Winehouse charged with assault after panto rage
Singer goes voluntarily to police station; she will appear in court in January
The singer Amy Winehouse was charged with assault yesterday following the incident last weekend when she allegedly disrupted a panto performance of Cinderella in Milton Keynes, shouting from the stalls "He's fucking behind you" and reducing children in the audience to tears.
Winehouse voluntarily attended Milton Keynes police station where she was arrested and charged - under the name Amy Civil - with a public order offence and common assault. She is due to appear in court on January 20.
As The First Post reported on Monday, Winehouse was said to have fought with the theatre manager, Richard Pound, when he tried to move her out of the main auditorium. Her constant heckling, which included shouting "Bitches" at the Ugly Sisters, led one member of the audience to say Winehouse was acting "like a demonic child". ·
