Quick divorce from Tiger could lose wife Elin $55m

She will gain by staying put, says divorce attorney, as Tiger Woods’s mum enters the fray

Despite continuing reports that Elin Nordegren is determined to leave her husband Tiger Woods as soon as possible following the revelations about his extramarital affairs with as many as 14 different women, a top divorce attorney claims that this is unlikely to happen - because it will cost her too much money.

Raoul Felder, who has represented the former wives of film director Martin Scorsese and author Tom Clancy in the past, told the Sunday Telegraph that if Nordegren were to push for an early settlement, then under Florida law she would only be entitled to the sum agreed in the prenuptual contract she and Woods signed before their marriage in 2004 - understood to be $20m.

However, it was reported within days of the scandal breaking that Nordegren and Woods had called in their lawyers to negotiate a new post-nuptual agreement which, it was widely leaked, would give Nordegren an additional $55m if she remained with Woods for two more years.

This 'post-nup', to replace the 'pre-nup', would enable Woods to continue to present himself as a family man and keep at least some of his lucrative endorsements deals intact.

"If this is a financial calculation, then I don't think you will see her seeking a divorce," Felder said. "If she left now, she would only get the pre-nup deal. You normally don't get reparations for adultery or humiliation."

The question is whether Nordegren is happy to settle for $20m - plus maintenance for their couple's two young children - which would enable her to cut all ties with her philandering husband, especially now that the number of women has risen to a dozen or more. Or can she face two more years with a man who has revealed himself to be a serial cheater and possibly a sex addict, for the sake of a much bigger pay-out?

Felkder made his comments as People reported that Tiger doesn't just have his wife to answer to - but his mother as well. According to a family friend who spoke to the magazine, Kultilda Woods "is hurt, angry and disappointed in Tiger... She wants to know how he could do this to his family.

"It was devastating to her. She likes Elin, and adores her grandchildren. She's worried about them. She doesn't want to see them hurt." ·

Leave the whole lot of them alone. They are BORING, and deserve to stew in their own juices.
