Ashley Alexandra Dupre, the former escort girl who brought down the married New York governor Eliot Spitzer, has turned agony aunt - with a column in the New York Post. Dupre, who used to earn $1,000 a night in her old role as a Wicked Models call-girl, has also been dishing out advice for another straying married man, the golfer Tiger Woods, on US television.

Dupre's byline photo in the New York Post shows her in sexy office garb - a half-unbuttoned blue shirt, glasses and a pen in her loosely tied back hair.

Dupre has presumably learned a thing or two about sex and scandals, after selling the story of her role in Spitzer's resignation for $4m to a US TV network and a Hollywood film studio. Now she is dishing out her brand of "no-nonsense advice" to New York Post readers on questions ranging from how to tell if a daughter is getting into trouble to whether a girlfriend is lying when she says she doesn't like porn (for the record, Dupre says she is "not big into that myself").

The paper describes her as "your escort through the world of relationships". Dupre brings her particular insights on marriage to weigh in on a question from J Marshall, 37, East Village, who asks: "Are there telltale signs a man isn't happy in his marriage?"

Ashley says: "Guys are primal. They're proud and need to be treated like they're proud and special... I think that wives with children have so much pressure on them, the natural thing is for the kids to take priority. The husband feels secondary and in one form or another may seek out that required special attention outside the marriage."

Meanwhile Dupre will be seen giving advice to Tiger Woods on American television tonight. Speaking on the entertainment news show Extra Dupre condemned the women who have come forward with their stories about alleged affairs with the golfer: "I don't agree with what they're doing, I don't agree with coming forward. I mean, he has a family, he has a wife, he has a kid. For people to just come out and want to say things that they're saying, I feel like that's really wrong. You're messing with someone else's life."

Dupre also had some advice for Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren. "If she really loves him, and they have that bond, then go to therapy, see if you can work it out... I believe in love and believe in making it work out."

Dupre's name hit the headlines in March 2008 when she was named as the favourite call-girl of the then-New York governor Eliot Spitzer. Spitzer resigned as governor in the wake of the allegations.

Who'da thunk, but Tiger's stream of questionable 'ladies' has actually made Dupre look almost respectable by comparison. I look forward to reading her insights.
