ROCK LEGEND Mick Jagger is considering playing a character that sounds remarkably like News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch in a new film about the world of tabloid journalism.

The Rolling Stone had the idea for the film, which has been given the working title of Tabloid, and will produce it, Deadline reports. Jagger's inspiration for the movie, which tells the story of a young reporter who gets seduced and sucked into the "immoral world" of tabloid journalism, is a mystery.

But since July, the world has watched in disbelief at the humbling of Murdoch, who closed down his News of the World tabloid in July following revelations that journalists there had hacked into the voicemail account of murder victim Millie Dowler. He was later forced to appear in front of British MPs, who asked him what he knew about phone hacking.

Jagger, whose best-known acting role is his turn as an eccentric former rock star in 1970’s Performance, is reportedly eyeing up the part of "a global media mogul with dubious morality". ·
