Michael Kors unveils a softer, sexier look
Meanwhile Kimora Lee Simmons shows her Baby Phat spring/summer collection at New York fashion week
American designer Michael Kors, known for his luxury sportswear, presented some of the sexiest outfits seen so far at New York Fashion Week when he showed his spring/summer 2010 collection yesterday.
While other designers have also been inspired by the Japanese school of rip and slash, Kors came up with the most commercial interpretation. He used see-through plastic panels that showed off glimpses of midriff or thigh and a body-conscious silhouette.
Sheath-like dresses in soft pastels - another departure from Kors's usual bright primary palette - are set to be top-sellers come February next year. Guests at the show included actor Michael Douglas and photographer Mario Testino.
Meanwhile Kimora Lee Simmons - dubbed New York fashion's 'wonder-woman' for her many roles including president and creative director of Phat Fashions, mother-of-three, America's Next Top Model judge and author - showed a fun and sexy collection for her Baby Phat label in the Roseland Ballroom, to a booming R&B soundtrack.
Simmons - a former model who is married to Def Jam record label founder Russell Simmons - sent models down the runway wearing acid-washed denim hotpants, mini prom-frocks, fuschia kaftans and gold bikinis. Sitting in the front row were Serena Williams and R&B singer Toni Braxton. ·
