It’s MSNBC vs Fox News as Olbermann goes after Beck

Keith Olbermann and Glenn Beck

In calling for his followers to dig up dirt on Glenn Beck, Keith Olbermann is stoking a long-running war between MSNBC and Fox News

Fox News host Glenn Beck may not have long to enjoy his success in forcing Barack Obama's green jobs czar Van Jones to quit.

Keith Olbermann, the host of MSNBC's Countdown With Keith Olbermann, is stepping up his long-running feud with Beck's Fox News colleague Bill O'Reilly to turn his fire on right-wing America's new darling.

In a post on the left-leaning blog Daily Kos, Olbermann (above left) called on readers to "Find everything you can about Glenn Beck". He also called for dirt on Beck's producer Stu Burguiere and Roger Ailes, the president of Fox News.

The appeal mirrors a similar call for leads made by Beck (above right) on his Twitter page last week. It read: "Watch Dogs: FIND EVERYTHING YOU CAN ON CASS SUNSTEIN, MARK LLOYD AND CAROL BROWNER."

Sunstein is Obama's nominee to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, while Lloyd is Chief Diversity Officer at the Federal Communications Commission and Browner is the Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change.

The call to arms threatens to stoke up a damaging war between MSNBC's parent company General Electric and Fox News, which has been playing out nightly on Countdown and The O'Reilly Factor, despite an attempt at a truce brokered in a face-to-face meeting between Ailes and GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt in April.

That peace initiative is now a distant memory. In August, Olbermann resumed hostilities by slamming the supposed truce when he called Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox News, the world's worst person for trying to silence Bill O'Reilly. Meanwhile, O'Reilly claimed that GE manufactured frequency modules that were used in roadside bombs in Iraq.

Olbermann will be opening up his appeal for dirt on Beck to his television audience on Tuesday. By attacking Glenn Beck, Olbermann clearly hopes to open up a new front against Fox News and, in his own words, "to save this nation from the Oligarchy of The Stupid". ·

I say go for it. Glenn Beck deserves to be treated in the same manner as he is treating this country right now: With contempt. He is an admitted alcoholic and drug addict, said he hated 9/11 victim's families, participated in race-baiting, and serves no useful purpose other than to spread propaganda not unlike the Nazis did. It won't be hard finding dirt on him, I'm sure. Give em hell.

Olbermann has always been long on personal abuse and short of sensible stuff. He is already ending up as a deadly bore.If he got any audience, thet are virtually non-existent.A pathetic apology for a journalist, this dirtbag.

I would love to see FOX News shut down as well as their commentary shows that are touted as news. There is no news, only opinions there. It is frustrating to see nothing but rants, misleading comments and general garbage. Fair and balanced? Hardly. If any of it were actual truth and fact it wouldn't be so bad. Nothing but political agendas.

If Olbermann goes to war with Beck he will end up the loser. He uses no facts when he attacks those that he doesn't agree with it just smears. I am surprised that MSNBC stays on the air.

The writer seems to think Olbermann has a lot of power. He must be the only person with such a view - he is just jealous. Look at his ratings.
