Agyness Deyn recreates Michael Jackson’s look
Supermodel Agyness Deyn has posed in recreations of the King of Pop's idiosyncratic outfits for photographer Terry Richardson
Agyness Deyn, the British supermodel, has paid tribute to Michael Jackson's eccentric style by recreating some of the late King of Pop's most iconic looks for the US edition of Harper's Bazaar. The cover and six-page photo spread was shot by enfant terrible fashion photographer Terry Richardson.
Twenty-six-year-old Deyn (above, photos by Terry Richardson for Harper's Bazaar) poses in a red and black leather jacket in homage to Jackson's 1983 video for Thriller. In other photos she sports military epaulet jackets, studded with Swarovski crystals. Also appearing alongside Deyn is a chimpanzee - a reference to Jackson's beloved chimp Bubbles. The photos come out in the magazine’s September issue.
In other Michael Jackson developments:
• The rhinstone-studded white glove worn by Michael Jackson when he first performed his famous Moonwalk dance, at the Motown 25 TV special in 1983, is to go under the hammer in New York in November. The left-handed glove was described by auctioneer Darren Julien as "the Holy Grail of Michael Jackson memorabilia". Other items in the charity auction at the Hard Rock Cafe will include Jackson's Bad tour jacket and the fedora he wore at the 1995 MTV Music Awards.
• A new biography of Michael Jackson described as the "definitive book about his life" is to be published in December following a legal ruling. The Michael Jackson Opus, which will be hand-bound in leather and presented in a silk case, will include unpublished lyrics and drawings and photos from the singer's personal archives. Plans to publish the Jackson biography had begun before his death on June 25.
Last week a judge ruled the project could go ahead, given that the singer had already given it his blessing and a team of researchers will now start going through his notebooks and boxes with the agreement of his estate. They hope to find the drawings that he did for the design of his most famous albums' artwork, such as Thriller. Opus is the team behind the most expensive sports book on record, Manchester United Opus. A copy of the limited edition book changed hands earlier this year for £1m. ·
