David Beckham's stormy relationship with the supporters of LA Galaxy shows no signs of improving after he clashed with another fan just a week after being booed by sections of the crowd.

The latest incident came during Galaxy's 1-1 draw at Kansas City Wizards, when he was heckled by a man wearing an England shirt who, he claimed, was insulting his wife Victoria. The midfielder took exception to the comments and remonstrated with him before eventually offering to shake his hand.

Despite the conciliatory gesture, Beckham later branded him a "disgrace" and questioned his right to wear an England top. "He shouldn't actually be wearing that shirt because what he was saying about my wife was a disgrace," he said.

The former England captain is no stranger to abuse from fans. During his time with Manchester United he was regularly subjected to obscene chants, many directed at his wife, and after the latest incident Beckham admitted: "I've had it all before. I've heard it all before. I've not heard that for a long time."

Last week Beckham was fined $1,000 after arguing with Galaxy fans during a friendly against AC Milan, the club he went on loan to earlier this year. Asked whether he had been tempted to "do a Cantona" - a reference to the famous day in 1994 when Eric Cantona leapt into the stands and assaulted an abusive fan – Beckham smiled and said: "Of course not".

Despite his travails and rumours of a possible return to European football - both Chelsea and Spurs have expressed interest, while AC Milan would apparently welcome him back - it seems the Beckhams may be in California for the long haul. According to Hello! magazine the family feel settled there and do not wish relocate their three children. ·
