The actor thinks shooting love scenes with lovely young women is taking liberties

Ray Winstone did not enjoy shooting the loves scenes in his latest film, Compulsion. It's not that he was ashamed of his body: "I know it's not perfect," he told Tim Oglethorpe in the Daily Mail.

"I didn't do a lot of training before I took on this role because I'm playing the guy next door, the bloke who isn't all muscle and six-pack, the one who doesn't bear any sort of resemblance to Brad Pitt."

What bothered him was getting intimate with a virtual stranger - his female co-star Parminder Nagra. "Call me old-fashioned, but I just felt I was taking liberties. You know what I mean? I know I was only playing a character, but there was still a part of me that was thinking: 'I shouldn't be doing this. I shouldn't be touching this young woman here and I shouldn't be touching her there.'"

Still, he could be confident about one thing: however graphic the scenes, he wouldn't get any grief from Elaine, his wife of 28 years. "When I was filming a movie called Beowulf with Angelina Jolie a few years ago, Elaine asked me what I'd been doing all day.

I said: 'Kissing Angelina Jolie.' She didn't turn a hair. Just looked at me and said: 'Well somebody's got to.'" ·
