Dr Who’s Karen Gillan ‘found naked after all-night party’

The 23-year-old actress Karen Gillan, who plays Doctor Who's assistant Amy Pond, has declined to comment on a report in the Daily Mail that she was found naked in a New York hotel corridor after a night of "riotous partying" with other members of the Doctor Who cast, including Matt Smith who plays the Doctor.

The alleged incident took place when Gillan and Smith were taking part in a publicity tour organised by BBC Worldwide in April to coincide with the setting of Series 32 in the States. But the story has only come to light now.

The Doctor Who team were staying at The Ace, a boutique hotel in Midtown Manhattan. After completing their promotional work, they allegedly started partying.

At 7.0 am, according to the Daily Mail, an unnamed permanent resident at the hotel hear someone trying his door.

When he got up and looked through the peephole he saw a naked woman trying to get in. "The next thing I saw was a woman giving this person at my door two towels before getting into the lift and leaving."

The man watched as the young woman he later identified as Karen Gillan tried to wrap the two towels around herself, but without any luck.
 
"She then started to whimper and knock on my door. Seeing that she wasn't getting anywhere, she lay down with the towels covering her."

When the security staff eventually came, they wrapped her up and took her to her room.

Another resident, named as Suzanne Leonara, told the Mail: "This girl looked as though she hadn't been to bed. Everyone who saw her thought she was completely zonked out."

BBC Worldwide were "unaware" of the alleged incident, a spokesman told the Mail yesterday. ·
