Red top tales: former Smiths frontman puts on pro-Argentine show in Buenos Aires

FORMER Smiths frontman Morrissey has performed a concert in Buenos Aires with his band wearing T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan 'We Hate William and Kate', writes the Daily Mail. The singer stoked further controversy by telling the Argentinian audience that "we all know that the Malvinas [the Falkland Islands] are Argentina's." Prince William is currently on a six-week RAF training operation in the Falklands. There is support for the royal couple elsewhere, however: Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Santana Casey tells The Sun that Kate Middleton is "the hottest traveller idol" and she is planning on wearing an exact copy of her wedding dress.

THE surviving members of The Monkees will not attend singer Davy Jones's funeral, reports the Daily Mail. Drummer Micky Dolenz says: "'My understanding is they want to avoid a media circus and the family wants to keep it very, very low-key and very, very private." The body of the 66-year-old Jones, who died of a heart attack last week at a ranch near his Florida home, will be cremated according to sources, with memorial services in Manchester and Florida.

KANYE WEST has upset members of the Royal Family, claims The Sun. The rapper has hired an entire floor of the Lanesborough Hotel in London and set up music studios and fashion workshops to entertain his friends. The activity is not to everyone's liking and according to Kanye protégé Big Sean their late-night activities have disturbed members of the Royal Family who – Kanye's crew claim - were staying on the floor below. "Kanye had rented out the top floor and we was banging that bitch out," Big Sean tells the Sun. "Every room was a studio. The Royal Family below were complaining like, 'We got all this loud-ass rap music above us and weed smoke.'" The Sun did not explain why members of the Royal Family might be staying at the Lanesborough when they have various palaces within spitting distance.

MARIO BALOTELLI has been told to "carry on going to strip clubs" by his underwear model girlfriend Raffaella Fico, according to the Daily Star. The Manchester City striker was recently fined £250,000 by his club, Manchester City, for visiting a lap-dancing night spot hours before a Premier League match but has been forgiven by his partner who says, "For me he can go to a strip club, as long as he doesn't do anything wrong with his friends."

BEATLE John Lennon used to enjoy gorging on Rice Krispies smothered in ice cream, according to the Daily Mirror. The revelations come from a new book Backstage Pass VIP by Debra Sharon Davis who claims that the Beatle, who was murdered in 1980, "enjoyed putting ice cream on everything when he could" and loved chocolate bars. However, the claims are refuted by Lennon's widow Yoko Ono who tells the Mirror: "He was always on a very healthy diet".

AGEING crooner Engelbert Humperdinck is "not the Euro vision" we thought he was, notes the Daily Mirror. A photograph taken outside his Los Angeles home yesterday suggests the publicity image used by the BBC to promote the 75-year-old singer for this year's Eurovision Song Contest must have been airbrushed. In reality the pensioner has "a few more wrinkles" and bags under his eyes, writes the Mirror, before suggesting that perhaps his song for this year’s contest, to be announced on March 20, should be called Please Retouch Me.
