Red top tales: 'Sex kitten' Holmes enters a 'new phase'; One Direction star in foul-mouthed tirade

AMERICAN Elle magazine has published a photo shoot with Katie Holmes which suggests the actress was "rebelling" against Tom Cruise's allegedly controlling ways well before she filed for divorce. Flashing her sheer black bra for Elle’s photographer, Holmes "unleashed the sex kitten", the Daily Mail reports, six weeks before the couple’s split was announced. Holmes told the magazine that she felt "sexier" and said: "I'm starting to come into my own. It's like a new phase." TMZ claimed today that Cruise controlled Holmes like a "puppetmaster", making major and minor decisions in her personal and professional life. The Mail says he "controlled even her wardrobe choices".
One Direction's Niall Horan has been caught on camera calling his fans a "shower of c****". Horan arrived at Dublin airport earlier this week and apparently stunned young fans with a foul-mouthed outburst. Walking past a group of girls, he says: "Remember the last time I walked down here? You shower of c****." One fan uploaded a video of the 18-year-old swearing on YouTube with the message: "We didn't mobb him, he callled us showers of c**** as BANTER." Horan's publicist Simon Jones defended the singer, telling the Irish Sun that his comments were "clearly a joke".
As the showbiz world recovers from the shock of Holmes and Cruise's split, could Justin Bieber's romance with Selena Gomez be the next to fail? The couple are apparently "on the rocks" after breaking up multiple times in the past few months. Queue the universal gasp of millions of teenage girls. The teenage pair, who have been dating for around 18 months, attempted to repair their latest rift as recently as last week, but apparently they are just "papering over the cracks". As the Daily Mirror says, "Honestly, they're about 12. Just snog each other's best friends and be done with it."
A cinema worker dressed as Batman was questioned by anti-terror police and told he was a "security risk" because the Olympic Torch relay was due in his town. The man, who asked to remain anonymous, was handing out leaflets promoting The Dark Knight Rises in Stratford-upon-Avon when he was stopped by two PCSOs. They reportedly called in the anti-terrorism unit and his identity had to be checked by an inspector from Warwickshire Police, reports the Daily Mirror. One of the officers apparently told the young cinema worker it was a "bad day to be Batman".
The Mayor of Murray, Utah was busy campaigning during his city's 4 July parade this week… to save his 18-inch handlebar moustache. Mayor Dan Snarr's opponent was his wife April, who claims the eccentric whiskers, held horizontal by gel and hair spray, often poke her in the eye. April had hoped her husband's lack of vocal power might give her an edge in the campaign after he contracted laryngitis a few days earlier. But the decision was put to a public vote and two-thirds of the crowd sided with the mayor to save – not shave – the tache. "It was my one big chance," she lamented to The Salt Lake Tribune.
