AUDIENCE members threatened to walk out of a Russell Brand stand-up show after the comedian asked a porn star to perform a sex act on a drunken student, The Sun reports. The show was being filmed in California for his new comedy series Brand X but some members of the US audience were less than amused by his attempt to stage a live sex show. After stopping his volunteers seconds before the deed began, Brand told the audience: "This presents too much of a moral dilemma for us to explore here about the proximity of pornography in reality."

VAN CRUSHED AS MAN UNLOADS OVEN AT DUMP
A customer who dropped off a friend's oven at his local dump was horrified to see his van being crushed by mistake. Ben Forrer, a 33-year-old fireman, unloaded the unwanted oven before going to talk to the dump manager in his office, the Daily Mail reports. After just a few minutes he came back to find his £5,000 Citroen Relay van had disappeared. Then he looked up to see his 12-year-old vehicle dangling from a crane above a huge crushing machine. Staff at the Longford scrapyard in Coventry, who had mistaken the van for scrap, immediately lowered it to the ground, but it was already a write-off.

ANTI-GAY CHICKEN SPARKS SAME-SEX KISS-IN
Pro-equality groups are coordinating a same-sex kiss day at Chick-fil-A restaurants across America on 3 August over the company's support for "all things anti-gay”, reports TMZ. The fast-food chain's president has been particularly vocal with his views against same-sex marriage. Former Republican candidate Rick Santorum threw his weight behind the chicken restaurant, yesterday tweeting: "With two of my boys, Enjoying chick-in-strips and awesome peach shake at Chick-fil-A." He will join fellow evangelical Christian Mike Huckabee's campaign for a Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on 1 August.

UNDERAGE 'PLONKER' USES RODNEY'S ID
An underage drinker tried to get into a pub in Newquay with fake ID – but was laughed off the premises when door staff saw his dodgy driving licence, reports The Sun. The ID showed a photograph of Nicholas Lyndhurst, who played Rodney Trotter on Only Fools and Horses. Staff at the Newquay Arms asked the teenager if it was definitely him in the picture and he replied: "Yeah, yeah, yeah." The card was confiscated and police were called, but the owner of the fake ID left before they arrived. ·
