Female fans flirt with me, says Christina Hendricks
Mad Men star says women approach her more than men, and puts sexy walk down to tight skirts
Buxom Mad Men star Christina Hendricks, credited with bringing womanly curves back into fashion, has no shortage of admirers, but the voluptuous actress has revealed that the only ones who ever dare approach her are women.
She made the confession on the US talkshow The View, where she admitted: "Men don't really approach me much, but women do come up - and they are flirtatious with me."
It is not the first time she has made such a lament. In an interview with Vanity Fair last year, Hendricks, who plays Joan Holloway on the cult TV show, revealed that most of the attention she gets is from female fans and gay men.
"Women hit on me," she told the magazine. "My husband thinks it's so odd that so many women hit on me... [gay men] say to me, 'Well, I'm not straight, but if I was'... I think it's so flattering."
Hendricks also revealed that her figure-hugging 1960s costumes are partly responsible for her elevation to sex symbol status. When asked how she managed such a sexy walk on the show, the actress explained: "I think I was just trying to get across the room in that tight dress."
Fans of Mad Men will be relieved to hear that season five of the Madison Avenue drama is finally going ahead and that there has not been a cull of characters as had been feared.
There were reports that as many as six cast members were for the chop, but Hendricks said: "They are just rumours. The writers are back now - no one's leaving the show. I don't know exactly when we will go back on the air, it will be a little bit later - but not much."
