SWEETHEART of the Olympics Jessica Ennis plans to put athletics training on hold to enjoy Fifty Shades of Grey. The heptathlon star, who won gold last Saturday, plans to go on holiday with her fiancé Andy Hill – but has warned him that she will be delving into Britain's biggest bestseller while they are away. So I'm going to buy all three of them and read them on holiday."
PET CHIMP WAS MICHAEL JACKSON'S 'GURU'
Michael Jackson reportedly believed his pet chimp Bubbles could spot 'friends' who were actually gold-diggers. The singer used to tell staff that the chimp was "a good judge of character" and is said to have barred siblings from his Neverland ranch if the pet did not like them. A former housekeeper said: "Bubbles often would be a gauge for Michael to decide who should stay and go." The revelation comes as the King of Pop's family continues to squabble over his millions three years after his death, reports The Sun.
'HITLER WINE' CAUSES OUTRAGE IN ITALY
Tourists shopping in an Italian supermarket were shocked to discover wine bottles featuring images of Adolf Hitler, reports the Daily Mail. Cindy Hirsch from Philadelphia, US, whose relatives died in Auschwitz, was on holiday with her husband Michael in Garda, northern Italy, when she spotted the Nazi leader's face on the shelves. One of the bottles was called 'Mein Kampf' and another was called 'Ein volk, ein Reich, ein Fuhrer' (one people, one empire, one Fuhrer). Her husband said: "It is very shocking and startling to us. We would think of it as neo-Nazism. It makes you wonder about the sympathies of the local people."
DRUG-SMUGGLING CAT BUSTED BY POLICE
A “criminal cat” that smuggled class A drugs into a Russian prison has been foiled by police. Narcotics officers in Rostov, south Russia, became suspicious of the felonious feline after spotting him regularly roaming around the prisoners' quarters. A group of drug dealers had allegedly been stashing heroin in the cat's collar and letting it deliver the drugs to prison inmates holed up at the criminal facility in the town of Shakhty. The cat is unlikely to face charges, reports the Metro, but its accomplices undoubtedly will.
1D'S LOUIS TOMLINSON BUYS FOOTBALL TEAM
One Direction's Louis Tomlinson is now the proud owner of pub football team The Three Horse Shoes in Doncaster. The singer used to play for the local pub side before making it big on The X Factor. After hearing that the team was struggling to get a new kit together, Tomlinson provided a new set of Nike strips and organised Yorkshire Tea as a sponsor. In return, he will be allowed to play for the team when he has time. A source told The Sun: "They will have the best kit in the league and no shortage of tasty brews at half time in the cold winter months."
